This movie is an adaptation of Tove Jansson’s 1972 novel. The film follows a young girl, Sophia (Emily Matthews), spending the summer on a small Finnish island with her father, played by Anders Danielsen Lie. Most especially, it’s about Sophia spending time with her elderly grandmother, bravely played by the awe-inspiring actress of stage and screen, Glenn Close. And it’s about you getting to watch the little actress who keeps up with her.

If you miss this, you may be considered a dumb-dum. Hear that in your head as Ted in “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” would have said it because it’s said in the film in exactly that tone. Vocally, Reeve’s character of angel Gabriel sounds and behaves somewhat like his Ted did. Maybe Gabriel liked the movie? This was simply a joy to watch. The comedic elements really hit the mark.
Not what I was expecting. “After the Hunt” ultimately proved to be… unexceptional. It’s filled with plenty to look at and listen to, the score, top-notch, the cinematography tremendous, as I assumed it would be based on those involved. Read more
