“The Son” is a prequel to a movie called “The Father” by the same Writer and Director. It has a difficult balance to work out – how to make a movie about a young person dealing with clinical depression, but not make a movie that is depressing. It is a rough road to travel. But the performances are almost enough to deliver that balance. However, the manipulative script undercuts the final results. Read more

Plane Movie Review
It just so happens that right before attending the screening for “Plane,” I had watched a documentary about a plane crash. This being the case, I was able to point a keen eye on the beginning of the film when the pilots discuss what they’re going through.

Babylon Movie Review
Prepare yourself for a wild ride with the “wild child.” Outside of the very beginning, where you’re in the middle of a party, a circus, a strip club, orgy or a masquerade ball, (well, all of those at once), the three hour and nine-minute time the movie stretches out to be, won’t be felt. I say this because it isn’t necessary for the opening scene to be so long, even though it features an elephant, an animal I love very much. It’s a good scene, introducing essential characters, but enough already is what will run through your head. You’ll get to know those who are willing to drink themselves into a stupor and those who are more levelheaded.

Glass Onion – A Knives Out Mystery Movie Review
Streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 23, 2022
“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” is a close second-cousin to the movie “Knives Out”. They are related by blood, mainly the blood oozing from deadly flesh wounds. “Knives Out” concerned a suspected murder, and all of the mysterious events and cover-ups that occurred after. “Glass Onion” is also a whodunnit, in a sense. But when it becomes unclear exactly what has been done, then very next mystery is exactly who.
I Wanna Dance With Somebody Movie Review
“I Wanna Dance With Somebody” is a detailed look at the life of singer Whitney Houston. She was a phenomenal performer and a gifted artist. She had a powerful influence on pop music and on society in general. While some Blacks chided her for sounding too ‘White’, she continued to rack up Number One hits. Her rise, and her eventual fall, was followed by every magazine and tabloid. This movie takes a deeper look at ‘The Voice’… Read more
The Whale Movie Review
Knowing nothing about “The Whale,” except that it stars Brendan Fraser, is the best way to see this movie. Try not to watch or read that much about it. It’s the unknown that holds your interest. Your eyes are wide, and you’ll feel as if you’re being tied down and kept watching… waiting to see what becomes of this man’s life. I say this because I mean it, but from almost the opening scene, you’ll be so engaged you’ll be unable to even eat your popcorn.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Movie Review
“Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” is an animated movie for anyone who has a spirit of adventure, and a dash of ‘Shrek’ nostalgia. The big green ogre is nowhere to be seen, but one of his faithful companions is ‘Puss in Boots’, who continues his own story of fearless heroism. Until he comes to the final of his nine lives… Read more
Empire of Light Movie Review
I was looking very forward to “Empire of Light” based on its poster alone! It’s a solid visual of two people quietly celebrating the glory that is the event, the bringing about of fantastic fireworks in the sky. It turns out it’s just 1980 turning into 1981, but it looks like something more unique, as did the movie when I first saw the trailer.
