A Good Person Movie Review

As I left the screening, “Wow!” repeatedly played in my head. I had to tell the studio representative more than wow, so by the time I spoke to her, after “Wow!” I told her that I couldn’t believe this was written and directed by Zach Braff. Don’t get me wrong, that’s nothing against him, but he’s my hysterical J.D. from “Scrubs!” I know he’s so much more, but this was, too.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods Movie Review

The first “Shazam!” film starts in 1974. We meet a young Thaddeus Sivana played by Ethan Pugiotto, who is denied the opportunity to be the Champion mostly because his father believes him to be weak. When Thad grows up, he’s bitter and angry, working on the way to get back at the man who denied him happiness and the wizard (Djimon Hounsou) who stole his chance to show the world that he would be pure of heart if it were not for the family who created the darkness within him.

Inside

Inside Movie Review

“Inside” is a rare hybrid of a movie. There are movies about ‘Art’… And there are ‘Art Movies’. But in this case, it is an ‘Art Movie’ about ‘Art’. More specifically, this is a movie about the theft of Art – or at least the attempt. But when it all goes south, can the Art Thief exist on only paintings, sculptures and other pieces of Art? Scream VI

Scream VI Movie Review

“Scream VI” takes the horror franchise to somewhere it has never been before – New York City. The Ghostface killer has moved to the Big Apple, to take a slice out of people there. To paraphrase Sinatra – “If I can slash ’em there, I can slash ’em anywhere”. But the extended string of ‘Scream’ movies is wearing very thin. The plot becomes more and more removed from any sense of reality. SPOILERS AHEAD — but none from this movie! Read more

Champions

Champions Movie Review

“Champions” is a remake of a Spanish movie in which a disgraced basketball coach is forced to do community service by coaching a team of intellectually challenged kids. This is the type of movie that could be really disturbing if all the jokes are at the expense of the ‘slow kids’. But, it may surprise you that the situation is treated with much more respect than you might think. Read more

Operation Fortune

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre Movie Review

“Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre” is a spy thriller that follows a well-trod path. All the previous iterations of James Bond, Mission: Impossible, Man from UNCLE, and even Our Man Flint have taken the suave but deadly super-spy on dangerous missions. Here, a small team sets out to retrieve an important item (but it is unknown), stolen by a dangerous group (identities are unknown), and the item is to be auctioned off (to parties unknown). Creed III

Creed III Movie Review

“Creed III” is a new movie in the franchise of “Rocky”, which started back in 1976. Back then, Rocky faced a boxer in the ring named Apollo Creed. With this offshoot from the original series, Creed’s son has risen in the ranks and now is a retired Heavyweight Champ. Three movies in, and now Creed faces a new opponent in the ring, someone from his dark past… Read more
