Kandahar

Kandahar Movie Review

“Kandahar” is a not really a war movie. It is more like a movie set in a war zone. The main action is set in Afghanistan, near the border with Iran. And then you throw in a little background action in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, and you have an entire U.N. of hostile groups ready to rumble. Put a CIA operative into the mix and see what hits the fan…

White Men Can’t Jump Movie Review

“White Men Can’t Jump” is a redo of a movie from 1992 that starred Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes. If you haven’t yet heard, it also has the same title. Why it was necessary to construct a remake of this particular film is anyone’s guess.

Still, it was alright, so it wasn’t a terrible idea. After watching, however different, this was on the same level as the first. Buddy movies that work well are entertaining, but sometimes we should just leave well enough alone.

It Ain't Over

It Ain’t Over Movie Review

“It Ain’t Over” is a wonderfully made documentary about a famous old-time baseball player. He is named Lawrence Peter, but that is only his first and middle names. Everybody knows this guy by his nickname – “Yogi” Berra. This was the goofy-looking, hard-slugging, wisdom-spouting player who was a major star in the Major Leagues. Read more

Fast X

Fast X Movie Review

“Fast X” is the tenth movie in the very popular franchise of “Fast and Furious”. The way to pronounce the movie name is “Fast Ten”. As in — “Fasten in! It’s going to be a bumpy ride!”. That’s a little worrisome because, generally, a movie that avoids advertising and hides out, only to be seen on the release date on its site, won’t be something you want to run to see. You may feel that way if you’re an adult, but you’ll see this as a fun adventure if you’re a lot younger. Mom. Dad. It’ll be okay to watch it with them. It isn’t all that bad.

Carmen Move Review

Here, Carmen is tackled by well-known choreographer and dancer Benjamin Millepied. The film is very artistic and deserves the attention a lover of something distinct would be willing to give it. You should, too, just for the hearts that created it. The score by Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight) is exceptional. However, this is an odd creation.

Book Club: The Next Chapter Movie Review

This is the perfect movie for Mother’s Day and for the grandmother’s out there who, if they want to go to the theater with the family, often have only the choice between watching a Marvel movie or an action flick, or something for the even younger ones. These types of movies don’t generally interest grandmothers quite as much as a movie like this, but they’ll often go anyway. Hint. Hint.
