“Sylvie’s Love” is a throwback to the mid 1960’s, into a era of hot jazz and warm hearts The Black culture shown on the screen is infused with a love of music, family, and pop culture. In this arrangement, the story touches on love found, then lost, and then found again. But only for a while… It is like a jazz cover of “La-La Land”, in a different key and with slowed-down tempo.

“Climate of the Hunter” is an odd mash-up of a low-budget horror movie and low-budget indie/art-house movie. The place where succeeds the most in the ‘low-budget’ part. Now, some low-budget movies can be well made and interesting – wanting to tell a unique story in a low-key manner. But, with a misguided concept – this can go off the rails pretty quickly. This movie boards the Express Train to Weird and never makes a stop…

“Half Brothers” is a multicultural (and multilingual) comedy about a road trip adventure with someone who you just met. But he is your brother, well half-brother. And when you are from a small town in Mexico, and this other guy is an ‘American Idiot’ – well how can you say “Road Trip”? “Viaje por Carretera”? Yeah, close enough…
“The Climb” is a buddy movie, one with an honest look at male friends over many years. It is told with a quirky style and an unusual soundtrack. The two guys are best buds from back in high school days, and nobody ever said that growing older means that you also have to grow up.

“Honest Thief” might be an oxymoron, just like “jumbo shrimp” or “military intelligence”. This movie has a tightly-wound plot and some formidable characters, and it might be an ‘original copy’ of many other ones, but it is one perfect for these new ‘weirdly normal’ times.
