“The Menu” is categorized as a comedy, thriller and horror. I’m not sure “Horror” is the correct way to describe it, but the other two genres are spot on. What’s done well is how quickly you get to know the two main characters, Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Tyler (Nicholas Hoult). “The Guest Room” is a freaky thriller about a home invasion that is not exactly as it seems. There are only three people involved, and there is mystery to unravel in the chaos and madness. Many things are not as they seem, and the ultimate goal is what can bring a family together. Couples Therapy has never been so terrifying!

I purposely went into the screening of “Don’t Worry Darling” knowing as little as possible about the movie because all I heard from critics was how disappointed they were. Boo.
“God’s Country” is set in a small town in Montana. The movie is based on “Winter Light” by author James Lee Burke. Burke, who’s a New York Times bestselling author. Burke has written over forty novels. He also has two short story collections and “Winter Light” is from one of those collections. I hope more filmmakers dig into them and find more movies to make.
“Goodnight Mommy” is the remake of the 2016 Austrian horror film of the same name. I say remake lightly. The original movie tackles what it’s like to go through a period of grief when you’re entirely alone. This film does the same thing, only here, and brilliantly when you think about it, you’re not quite sure what the hell is going on! Well, at first. It’s a tad slow. However, that’s what makes it so good… or is it confusing to its audience? That’s why I also use the word “brilliantly.” When you leave the theater, you can’t help but continue to think about this movie eating away at you.
