I’m starting this review with a bit of trivia. This film had a $200 million budget, making it the most expensive Netflix original movie ever made.

Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song Movie Review
“Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song” as a documentary is, in short, a bit too much of a good thing. Toward the film’s end, Cohen suggests with a smile that maybe it’s time people stop singing the song for a while. Then the journey starts…

Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down Movie Review
In 2011, Gabby Giffords, a promising young Congresswoman from Tucson, Arizona, was shot as she was campaigning at a grocery so her constituents could better get to know her. She was shot in the head, and six others were tragically killed. Among those murdered were a judge and a politically minded nine-year-old girl named Christina-Taylor Green, who was already passionate about democracy.

Don’t Make Me Go Movie Review
Not something usually done, “Don’t Make Me Go” tells us, using voiceover, what we’re going to think about the film. For some reason, Wally, played by young Mia Isaac, says to the audience, “You’re not going to like how this story ends.”

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris Movie Review
In 1992, director Anthony Pullen Shaw adapted Paul Gallico’s novel “Mrs. ‘Arris Goes to Paris” into a film starring Angela Lansbury and Omar Sharif. The book was the first in a series about a maid who works for well-to-do clients who treat her as though she owes them something.

Where the Crawdads Sing Movie Review
“Where the Crawdads Sing” is based off a very popular novel read in many local book clubs. In fact, one of the early promoters of the book was Reese Witherspoon, who is now one of this movie’s producers. The story seems perfect for a friendly book-club environment, with the strong yet troubled young female character.
Bowen’s Heart Film Review
Bowen Hammitt has congenital heart disease (CHD). He was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome or only half a heart. “Bowen’s Heart” is the documentary chronicling what the entire Hammitt family went through and is still going through while Bowen fights this chronic illness. Read more
Marcel the Shell with Shoes On Film Review
“Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” is about as cute as it gets. In my opinion, the dialogue, circumstances and situations that arise around this little stop-motion animated shell seem to be geared toward adults. Still, the kids will go crazy for this adorable little guy and the darling voice Jenny Slate has given him. I think we all need a little cute in our life right now, so I can’t help but suggest you watch.
Thor: Love and Thunder Movie Review
“Thor: Love and Thunder” is a Marvel movie with the continuing saga of everyone’s favorite beefcake – the “Mighty Thor”. Wait, well actually, “Mighty Thor” is the person who is worthy to wield the powerful hammer (Mjolnir). The hammer was in little pieces, due to an unfortunate encounter in a prior movie, and now Thor holds the “Stormbreaker”. But his super-charged axe is no match to Thor’s super-charged ‘Ex’. Ex-girlfriend that is, and she holds the hammer and is worthy to be “Mighty Thor”. The powerful hammer is able to break mountains, but Thor’s Ex can continue to break his heart.
Apples Movie Review
“Apples” is a foreign-language movie (Greek) that is from a first-time Writer and Director. Many times this can mean you could be in for a treat, a very personal take about a very deep subject. Yet many other times, it could mean that you can watch a meandering effort that offers up a promising premise, but then it sputters out like a wet wick. When you hope for the former, but you actually get the latter — well, it can drive you Bananas!
