LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (March 26, 2018)Â â Marvel Studios has begun principal photography in Los Angeles, California, on its newest film, âCaptain Marvel.â The production is shooting in and around the greater Los Angeles area, which will also serve as the production base for the film. The production will also shoot on location in Fresno, California, as well as locations in Louisiana, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Set for release in the United States on March 8, 2019, Marvel Studiosâ âCaptain Marvelâ is directed by the writing/directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, whose credits include âMississippi Grindâ and âHalf Nelson.â An all-star collective of accomplished writers penned the screenplay, including Meg LeFauve (âInside Out,â âThe Good Dinosaurâ), Nicole Perlman (upcoming âFirst Man,â Marvel Studiosâ âGuardians of the Galaxyâ), Geneva Robertson-Dworet (âTomb Raider,â upcoming âSherlock Holmes 3â), Liz Flahive & Carly Mensch (âGlowâ), and Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck.

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universeâs most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, âCaptain Marvelâ  continues the lineage of epic big-screen adventures chronicled in âIron Man,â âThe Incredible Hulk,â âIron Man 2,â âThor,â âCaptain America: The First Avenger,â âMarvelâs The Avengers,â âIron Man 3,â âThor: The Dark World,â âCaptain America: The Winter Soldier,â âGuardians of the Galaxy,â âAvengers: Age of Ultron,â âAnt-Man,â âCaptain America: Civil War,â âDoctor Strange,â âGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,â âSpider-Man: Homecoming,â âThor: Ragnarokâ and, most recently, âBlack Panther.â
