Director Sean Baker (Tangerine, The Florida Project), who wrote “Red Rocket” with Chris Bergoch, continues to impress. For his 2015 indie film “Tangerine,” he and Bergoch gave us an in-depth story of the life of sex workers who enjoy their orange juice and donuts. As well as being tumultuous, its slant turned out to be rather raw and captivating.

“C’mon C’mon” is remarkable. It’s shot perfectly in black and white giving it a more intimate and personal feeling. It’s sweet and loving, as is the leading relationship within the main storyline.

In the beginning of this Valdimar JĂłhannsson directed film, his debut (he also wrote the script with SjĂłn Sigurdsson), one thing becomes evident. Not much else does, mind you, but still, there’s one thing you can feel completely certain of… you’ll see much more from Icelandic director Valdimar JĂłhannsson in the coming years.
