“The Good House” is based on the 2013 Ann Leary novel of the same name. It’s directed by the husband-and-wife team, Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky. They’ve written comedic television and movies such as “Seeing Other People” and “The Rocker” but can they take this romantic drama head on and be successful?

Smile Movie Review
“Smile” is a movie that thinks you need to turn that frown upside-down. That is, as long as you like vaguely superstitious, unsettling horror movies. Movies such as ‘The Ring’ and ‘It Follows’. Movies that have some unnamed evil presence that gets you in the end. Only in this movie, it’s much more fun – because you get to wear a crazed smile before you die. Read more

Blonde Movie Review
“Blonde,” a Marilyn Monroe biopic with fictional moments taken from the Joyce Carol Oates novel thrown in, didn’t give me what I expected it would. It gave me so much more. Having never felt one way or another about Marilyn Monroe, I assumed I’d be viewing a movie about her life that would have a revelation or two. I expected information about how she started in the business and to learn a little about her childhood. Perhaps this movie would dig a little deeper, but even so, that would be that.
Don’t Worry Darling Movie Review
I purposely went into the screening of “Don’t Worry Darling” knowing as little as possible about the movie because all I heard from critics was how disappointed they were. Boo.
Railway Children Movie Review
“Railway Children” is the sequel to a successful ’70s family film in the UK. The ’70s film was called “The Railway Children.” Why the word “The” was dropped from the title for this sequel is beyond me, but there we have it. Actress Jenny Agutter (An American Werewolf in London) plays a character named Bobbie in both films. In “The Railway Children,” she was the older sister who, during World War 2, helped her mother move the tribe from the city to Yorkshire village.

God’s Country Movie Review
“God’s Country” is set in a small town in Montana. The movie is based on “Winter Light” by author James Lee Burke. Burke, who’s a New York Times bestselling author. Burke has written over forty novels. He also has two short story collections and “Winter Light” is from one of those collections. I hope more filmmakers dig into them and find more movies to make.
About Fate Movie Review
IN A NUTSHELL:
This romantic comedy is a tale of two people who believe in love, but seem to never be able to find its true meaning. In a wild twist of events, fate puts each in the other’s path on a stormy New Year’s Eve, as comedy and chaos ensue. Read more
Pearl Movie Review
“Pearl” has another title of “Pearl: An X-traordinary Origin Story”. Why? Because it has a direct tie-in to a previous movie called “X”. This was from the same Writer and Director, with the same leading Star. So, with the success of “X”, in getting a unique take on the horror-slash-slasher movie — what better way forward than to go way back into the past! Read more
Goodnight Mommy Movie Review
“Goodnight Mommy” is the remake of the 2016 Austrian horror film of the same name. I say remake lightly. The original movie tackles what it’s like to go through a period of grief when you’re entirely alone. This film does the same thing, only here, and brilliantly when you think about it, you’re not quite sure what the hell is going on! Well, at first. It’s a tad slow. However, that’s what makes it so good… or is it confusing to its audience? That’s why I also use the word “brilliantly.” When you leave the theater, you can’t help but continue to think about this movie eating away at you.
