George Clooney inspires as a director. Here, more than ever. “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” “Up in the Air,” and “The Tender Bar” are a few of his films. Clooney’s in them, too, because he knows a good story when he sees one and obviously where he best fits. Now, he offers “The Boys in the Boat.” Will it be up for Best Picture? No. But is it worth watching? Without a doubt.
Not knowing too much about the subject matter, wrestling, or not liking the sport, should not keep you from watching this film. It’s an absorbing, often tender film of love and loss, pain and sorrow.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is a return to depths of Aquaman’s past. Oh, it is also from the depths of the DC Movies Extended Universe. That ride has shut down and is being reconstructed under ‘New Management’. But will this final new adventure be the thrill-packed action ride we deserve? Or will this one turn out like “The Flash”, where it ‘sleeps with the fishes’? Read more

“Jacob the Baker” is a fictional guy, but his presence seems real to the readers who know him. When a reporter gets an assignment to interview this author, she feels that this might be a waste of her time. But then hearing the many stories told by ‘Jacob the Baker’ gives her a better understanding of her current difficult family situation.
If the original film is what you were looking for, don’t be disappointed when it’s not what you find. It’s, quite simply, only similar.
“Poor Things” could possibly be one of the darkest comedies I’ve ever seen, but what a wonderful experience it was.
This film is Cord Jefferson’s directorial debut. He wrote nine episodes of “Watchman” and twenty-five episodes of “The Good Place” so it was not a shock that this script was very well written and glorious in every way.

In case you didn’t know, the term for the film’s title came from the area surrounding Auschwitz. The Germans labeled the 15 square miles that bordered the concentration camp the Zone of Interest. It’s the perimeter or boundary between the security monitoring setup and the external network.
