“September 5” is solid storytelling. The tempo. The structure. The acting. All impeccable. It tells us about what happened during the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich when a terrorist organization did the worst thing imaginable.
One of the things you’ve heard most about “The Brutalist” is that it’s three hours and thirty-five minutes long. Don’t let that turn you off because not only will you not feel that time go by as you watch, but you’ll want more when it’s over. ​

If you like Pedro Almodóvar movies, such as, “Volver” and “Parallel Mothers,” this film “The Room Next Door,” a Spanish drama, written and directed by Almodóvar, is his first English-language film which is based on the novel by Sigrid Nunez, titled, “What Are You Going Through?” The book was about suicide and was published during Covid. Nunez included humor in her writing. That is certainly missing in the film. It is very heavy and reasonably dark.

After watching this masterpiece in all its glory, I wondered why it would be released on Christmas day. Contrasting takes on what makes you jolly, I guess. If so, that makes sense because this is the opposite of cheerful. That said, it’s magnificent. ​

I didn’t really know what to expect from “A Complete Unknown.” I don’t know a lot about Dylan so who was I to say whether a portrayal of his was well done or not? However, I’ll admit that enjoying the film and its cast doesn’t take knowing who Bob Dylan was. ​
