One Child Nation Movie Review

‘One Child Nation’ is a difficult film to watch but an important one. You have to see this because as a human on this planet, you should be concerned with what an authoritarian government has done and is still willing to do to people. Perhaps one should watch with an eye toward seeing it as a cautionary tale. It is not a yarn; not a fable. Read more

Fiddler: A Miracle of Miracles Movie Review

I must admit something to you. I have never seen ‘Fiddler on the Roof.’ I’ve never been interested, nor have I thought it would be very good. I like the influential musicals; the deep and meaningful stories that aren’t just fancy but really touch the heart. This show didn’t seem to fit that mold. Was I wrong!! ‘Fiddler’ is everything I just described and much, much more!

Aquarela Movie Review

This movie is magnificent. Its essence is beauty and its message, sublime. The subject of this film is stunning in its might but also reminds us that it has an unforgiving disposition when pushed too far. This film shows us every one of those elements and more.

David Crosby: Remember My Name Movie Review

“David Crosby: Remember My Name” is a reference to the Crosby of “Crosby, Stills and Nash” fame, and later  refers to “Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young”. No, that’s not a high-powered law firm. They were all part of the L.A. music scene, and hung out in Laurel Canyon area. Read more

Scary Stories (2019) Movie Review

The movie starts by introducing us to a singer who has a song for us called, ‘The Hearse Song.’ His version of it, that is. Once it’s heard you won’t be able to unhear it for the rest of the day. Some of the unforgettable lyrics are, ‘Did you ever think as a hearse goes by, that you may be the next to die? And your eyes fall out, and your teeth decay… and that is the end of a perfect day.’

Marianne and Leonard: Words of Love Movie Review

I’ll jump right in with letting you know that I thought I was going to write a review that spoke more or less of singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen’s talent. However, as the words went from fingertips to keyboard, I found that they weren’t so friendly toward the artist. Let me say that outside of the film being slow at times, you’ll be enthralled with this documentary but won’t be so crazy about its subject by films end. This should be titled, ‘Anything but Words of Love.’ Read more
