I have to admit a few things I’m pretty ashamed of, but I’m doing it anyway. I had never heard of Rita Moreno when I was asked to review this documentary. The biggest reason for that, most likely, is because I’ve never seen “West Side Story,” the film for which she’s most known.

‘The Sparks Brothers’ is Edgar Wright’s director of such films as ‘Shaun of the Dead,’ ‘Baby Driver’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ initial leap into documentary filmmaking. But, after watching, I have to wonder what took him so long to venture into the genre. Read more
12 Mighty Orphans the movie is based on 12 Mighty Orphans the book which itself is based on the real-life story of the Mighty Mites football team of depression-era Fort Worth, Texas. “The Hitmans’s Wife’s Bodyguard” goes back to the starting point, which is the previous movie called “The Hitmans’s Bodyguard”. So there was a Hitman, who once made a Hit on the Bodyguard’s client. This ruined the Bodyguard’s career and reputation. Then the Bodyguard was called on to protect that same Hitman. Also the Wife of the Hitman was involved and the story went absolutely bonkers. It was quite an R-Rated Romp with a Ruckus Resulting from these Ridiculous Rascals.

Let me start with a few caveats so you can decide whether or not to totally disregard my opinion. I dislike musicals. Like a lot. I’m also Latino. So, there’s the rub. I’m torn between wanting to promote positive representations of Latinx culture and my general distaste for the musical genre. Read more
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is the 47th movie in the Conjur-verse and I’m not sure but also sets up 12 prequel films, 7 streaming series, 4 comics and an anime spinoff. In all seriousness the Conjuring Universe is a bit convoluted but this film serves as a direct continuation of the main storyline which follows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, last seen in 2016’s The Conjuring 2. The film, like the others in the main series is loosely based on a real-life case, this time on the 1981 trial of Arne Johnson, who tried to use demonic possession as a defense (the so-called “the devil made me do it” case). Don’t be too harsh on Cruella de Vil! Her movie is clever and effective. It’s one to see. If you hear differently, tune it out. After all, everyone loves having someone to hate, am I right? Nothing wrong with admitting that.

“A Quiet Place Part II” is both a short prequel and immediate follow-up to the 2018 hit movie “A Quiet Place”. Since it centers on the same family as in the first movie, the best thing is to see that movie first. In that way, you can see how seamlessly they have made the transition to “Part II”. When the Earth is invaded by alien creatures that hunt based on sound and not by sight – you will want to silently cheer for the Abbott family.
