This is the kind of farce you can get behind if you like the cast and believe that its intentions are to make you laugh and have a blast, which you will.
You can’t take it seriously whatsoever. Prepared for that? See this. Interestingly, the opening quote tells us that this is based on a true story and that it happened exactly as depicted. I question that, but who am I?
The women who went to train at the hostess academy, Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee), are losing their jobs as hostesses from Stank Rail as it’s being shut down. They get the opportunity to ride the high-scale train, the Glamazonian Express. Amber (Brock Hayhoe), Ayshleiygh (Symone), and Alli (Marty Lauter) aren’t happy about these types on their train, planning to make sure they are shoved into the coach and stay there. Tensions build.
Some of the spoofs’ plot and a lot of the dialogue are exact rip-offs from “Airplane,” which, after seeing the trailer, I kind of expected to see. There are others, but when I heard, “Good luck out there,” I wondered if they took the airplane script and read it too closely. If you haven’t seen any of those films (first of all, “Why??”). Second, you’ll enjoy what you’re given here and with them, so get on it.
An unprecedented weather event, a Stormaganza, is headed their way. The president, Judy Gagwell, played by RuPaul, has an approval rating system you must pay attention to. I won’t tell you what you’ll see, but it’s quite witty and unexpected. She has experience in the United States Railforce and intends to help.
The puns, the gags, the musical numbers, and the LGBTQ+ references slay. They’re truly funny and meant to make you laugh. It can get too absurd at times, but this wasn’t written to hurt anyone. There are great one-liners, and the characters are fun. It’s an outrageously fun time if you’re open to it. Speaking of open, the opening credits and closing credits must be seen, so keep that in mind. It’s silly, but ridiculously amusing.
