Synopsis
New York (December 11, 2025) — “Re-Election,” the latest feature from director-writer-producer Adam Saunders (“Dotty & Soul”), will be available to buy or rent on digital streaming platforms starting December 15. Saunders also stars in the film, alongside a dream-team cast including Bex Taylor-Klaus and television icon Tony Danza.
The film is currently available for pre-order on Apple TV.
Saunders is a multi-hyphenate filmmaker and co-founder of Footprint Features. His feature directorial debut, “Dotty & Soul,” premiered in 2023 on Showtime. He has also produced titles for 20th Century Studios, Netflix, Sony, and Paramount.
The film screened for audiences in theaters this past fall, with its U.S. theatrical premiere held at New York’s Regal Union Square on October 10, followed by releases at Angelika Film Center in Dallas and The Springs Cinema & Taphouse in Atlanta, one week later on October 17.
A coming-of-middle-age comedy in the vein of “Election” and “Billy Madison,” the story follows Jimmy Bauer (Saunders), whose stunning loss in the race for class president during his senior year back in 1995 caused him to drop out of high school. Now a 40-something underdog stuck working in a memorabilia store owned by his dad (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Tony Danza, TV’s “Taxi” and “Who’s the Boss?”), Jimmy decides to go back to school for his missing class credits — and win the election he’s sure will make his life right. But after 30 years, things have changed a bit, and with the help of his new Gen-Alpha friend Noa (Bex Taylor-Klaus, “The Killing”) and former classmate-turned-girlfriend Ama (Nathalie Kelley, “The Vampire Diaries”), Jimmy learns that it’s not how we start a journey that matters — it’s how we finish it.
“This nostalgic and heartfelt comedy about giving yourself and others a second chance really resonated with audiences around the country when it opened in theaters,” says Bob Berney, CEO of Picturehouse. “We are delighted that people everywhere will now be able to see this funny film on Apple and Amazon, just in time for the holidays.”
A Texas native, Saunders brings the film home to audiences in Dallas in time for his own 30th high school reunion. He was, in fact, class president.
