Information on Phoenix Film Festival Special Event Screenings

They’ll be playing soon, that is. The Phoenix Film Festival will host multiple screening events at this year’s festival. Each event generates awareness for both the community and the globe.

Spotlight

  • Raising Ukrainian Awareness (Saturday, March 25th @ 3:00PM) – It’s been over a year since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and accounts of the atrocities happening there continue to stream out. It’s important that we recognize the struggle and stories of the people who escaped and the ones that still remain.  During this special event, hosted by Susanne Yatim Aslam, we’ll talk to families who have escaped to the United States and hear how dramatically their lives have changed. There will also be a World Premiere screening of the short documentary, DISPLACED, directed by Gil Cates Jr., that tells the story of one such family.
  • An Evening with Ben Proudfoot (Saturday, March 25th @ 6:00pm) – Join the festival as they welcome Phoenix Film Festival alum Ben Proudfoot back to the festival! As the festival will be celebrating his short documentary work with Breakwater Studios over the last ten years. Following the films, Ben will be present to talk about is work – and of course, his Oscar win for Best Short Documentary at the 2022 Academy Awards.
  • The Art of the Trailer (Saturday, April 1st @ 1:15PM) – Movie trailers are more than just advertisements. Creating the perfect trailer can be tricky and requires a unique approach as an artform. A well made trailer can capture your attention within seconds and leaves you wanting more. Join members of the Phoenix Critics Circle at the Phoenix Film Festival this year for a unique screening entitled THE ART OF THE TRAILER. Watch a selection of the most memorable and creative movie trailers and participate in thoughtful discussion on their impact and significance in the film industry.

Tickets are $15 each.  Attendees can also utilize their pass to enjoy the special screening events.

The 23rd Annual Phoenix Film Festival will run from Thursday, March 23 – Sunday, April 2 at Harkins Scottsdale 101 Theatre.
