Let’s celebrate 25 years of Fox Searchlight!
Spotlight
The first Fox Searchlight Pictures movie to be released was the film ‘The Brothers McMullen.’ It was made for under $50,000, won at Sundance and ended up earning ten million at the box office.
Fox Searchlight was founded in 1994. It was a studio created to produce, promote and distribute independent and foreign films. With each title, it has cemented its legacy in history as a powerhouse in the studio system.
Through their collaborative efforts with indie filmmakers, they’ve developed into one of the biggest, most exemplify authorities in that very effort. Since starting, they have procured 153 Academy Award nominations and thirty-nine wins.
Taking a look at the titles they’re attached to allows you to see that when they promised something, they’ve delivered on that promise. Luckily for us, they wanted to bring its audience impressive and entertaining films. They’ve achieved that goal in abundance. I certainly hope they’re not stopping anytime soon.
