Phoenix Film Foundation to Receive $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
PHOENIX (December 13, 2016) โ National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $30 million in grants as part of the NEAโs first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2017.ย Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $10,000 to the Phoenix Film Foundation in support of the 2017 Phoenix Film Festival. The Art Works category focuses on the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and the strengthening of communities through the arts.
โThe arts are for all of us, and by supporting organizations such as the Phoenix Film Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts is providing more opportunities for the public to engage with the arts,โ said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. โWhether in a theater, a town square, a museum, or a hospital, the arts are everywhere and make our lives richer.โ
โWe are thrilled and honored to receive a grant for the first time from the National Endowment for the Arts,โ said Phoenix Film Foundation Executive Director Jason Carney. โTo receive this grant from such a respected governmental agency is a great step forward for showcasing film as art within Arizona.โ
The 2017 Phoenix Film Festival will take place April 6 โ 13, 2017 at the Harkins Scottsdale 101 in North Phoenix. As Arizona’s largest film event, the Phoenix Film Festival screens over 175 films from new and emerging filmmakers and holds filmmaking seminars, parties and events for over 25,000 yearly attendees at the Harkins Scottsdale 101. The Phoenix Film Foundation, the organization that produces the Phoenix Film Festival, is dedicated to supporting and developing the artistic appreciation, educational opportunities and growth of independent film within Arizona. The Foundationโs primary functions through its programs are to promote the exhibition of independent films and conduct educational programs that teach the art of independent filmmaking, bringing new, emerging and established voices in film to the community
