This romantic fantasy, “She Came to Me” was written and directed by Rebecca Miller, which is a considerable feat, mind you, but I find it interesting that several people, including Nicole Kidman and Matthew Broderick, left before production began. The movie is anything but romantic and feels rushed, suggesting that Miller should have considered a more experienced director behind the lens. The story itself wasn’t any better, but maybe someone could have made this piece work. It’s about love. It’s about romance, but those two words must be revised here.

“The Exorcist: Believer” is an attempt to revive a franchise that began 50 years ago. The original movie, when it came out, was the biggest and scariest thing out there. “The Exorcist” terrified audiences five decades in the past. The shocking visuals of a young girl taken over by a demon were horrifying. But now this is the right time to reboot? Whatever possessed them to think that?
“Strange Way of Life” is a short film, with a major emphasis on the short part. This ‘Western’ themed slice-of-life drama blows in like a desert breeze, but lasts for less than an hour. It is from a celebrated director, with two fantastically talented actors in the lead roles. But the abbreviated story and screen time makes for a ‘strange way’ to utilize all of this talent.

I have to be honest. I did not think this movie was going to be very good. Stocks. GameStop. Kitty shirts. It didn’t seem like it would have very high entertainment value, especially for a particular crowd. I was happy to be wrong.
