Stuber Movie Review
‘Stuber’ is ridiculous… in a good way. In the newest buddy cop movie to come out for our viewing pleasure, director Michael Dowse teams Dave Bautista and Kumail Najiani together to create an unusual pairing that, in my opinion, works both visually and auditorially. Is that a word? Anway, anyone who doesn’t agree wasn’t watching the same movie that I was watching. Read more
Marianne and Leonard: Words of Love Movie Review
I’ll jump right in with letting you know that I thought I was going to write a review that spoke more or less of singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen’s talent. However, as the words went from fingertips to keyboard, I found that they weren’t so friendly toward the artist. Let me say that outside of the film being slow at times, you’ll be enthralled with this documentary but won’t be so crazy about its subject by films end. This should be titled, ‘Anything but Words of Love.’ Read more
Summer Night Movie Review
‘Summer Night’ is the directorial debut of actor Joseph Cross. Learning this made me want to like it more than I did but unfortunately, as I watched all I saw was a film that wanted to be as good as the 1995 ensemble classic, ‘Empire Records’ and desperately longed to be seen as second coming of 1993’s ‘Dazed and Confused.’ Read more
Maiden Movie Review
“Maiden” is a documentary of the yacht racing event that happened 30 years ago — an event that rocked the previously ‘boys only club’ of yachting. Read more
Midsommar Movie Review
Another A24 must-see is ‘Midsommar.’ The film was intense, bizarre and uniquely disturbing. An easier way to say it is that the movie was off the charts freaky and stays with you for long after you’ve seen it. The story follows a group of young anthropology students to Sweden on break from school headed straight for, quite frankly, their night or rather, their daymares. That comment will make more sense to you after you’ve seen the film.
Spider-Man: Far From Home Movie Review
“Spider-Man: Far From Home” is a Marvel superhero movie that comes after the events of other recent Marvel blockbusters. The people and plot of this one has been affected by many things that happened during the prior movies. Read more
Yesterday Movie Review
‘Yesterday’ is from the writer Richard Curtis who has written several movies I treasure, such as ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral,’ ‘Notting Hill,’ ‘Love Actually’ and ‘Bridget Jones Diary.’ Because of his involvement, I couldn’t wait to see this film. Read more
Annabelle Comes Home Movie Review
“Annabelle Comes Home” is a horror movie that is built from the so-called “Conjuring Extended Universe”. This all started with a mildly interesting story about the real-life Warrens (a husband and wife team of actual ‘Ghostbusters’). Read more
Framing John DeLorean Movie Review
We open on a scene in 1983 of the real in John DeLorean being given a polygraph test. After being asked if he had ever cheated anyone or on a business deal or ever been dishonest and immoral, he comments that being asked general questions like those makes his mind go through every bad thing he has ever done in his life… Read more
