“Dog” sounds as though it will be nothing more than a remake of an older movie — “Turner and Hooch in Fatigues”. But no, this movie gets into a quite different aspect of the ‘odd couple’ pairing of one ex-Army Ranger and one ex-Army Ranger canine.

“Uncharted” is a movie based off a popular video game. But it is also similar to a particular Wall Street security. It is very Derivative! But all of the other movies that it borrows from are fun adventurous thrill rides. So another name for this movie might be “International Goonie Pirates of the DaVinci Treasure Code Island”…
“The Cursed” is a spooky movie about a creature that stalks a wealthy landowner and his family in France. But the father of this group had brought about his own misfortune, along with the town elders.
“Blacklight” – Hey it’s no longer only a far-out glow-in-the-dark poster at Spencer’s in the Mall. Now it is a full-blown movie. But this run-of-the-mill thriller is a new way to bring some action to some older actors. There is a big conspiracy at a major government agency, and the hero will get some help from an up-and-coming new journalist. Stop me if you’ve heard this before…
Streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime starting Feb. 11
“I Want You Back” is decent (if predictable) Rom-Com type of movie. It has a bit of a preposterous set-up, but that makes the strangeness that follows a lot of fun. A man gets dumped by his long-time girlfriend, and also a woman gets dumped by her beau on that same day. Then they meet and decide to take on the challenge of breaking up the other one’s new romance. They gleefully chase after Cupid to put a stake in his heart. Hey, what are friends for?
“Moonfall” is blockbuster wannabe, created by the guy who has created many of these types of movies before. The prior efforts of Roland Emmerich have been loud and wild, and with just enough logical sense to keep all the action grounded. But it usually delivers on the ‘put the brain in neutral and pass the popcorn’ style of a fun experience. Here, he gets a little more Science involved, but it is still wild and loud fun.
“Jackass Forever” is powerful and moving cinema experience with detailed plotting like Christopher Nolan and acting up to a level equal to Daniel Day Lewis. BWAH-HAA-HA! Fooled Ya! It’s just another great example of the S.O.S. theory. If it worked before, give ’em the Same Old Schlock! At least this movie does prove a point. The point that it proves is that a bunch of Villages are missing a whole bunch of Idiots!
“Scream” is the latest edition of the CSU (Cinematic Scream Universe) that began in 1994. That one was called “Scream”, followed by “Scream 2”. Next came “Scream 3” and after that “Scream 4”. So, now there is movie number five (“5”). And it is called “Scream”. That is the same name used as the first one! Is this is sequel, a remake, a reboot, a reimagining? Is it a ‘re-quel’ (reboot AND a sequel)? It just makes you want to scream!
Exclusively launching on Amazon Prime beginning this Friday January 14th
“Hotel Transylvania: Transformania” is new movie in the series of animated comedies about a Hotel that is not located in California. All the prior movies were harmless fun, and this one continues the trend. All of these movies have been fun to watch, if not especially hilarious.
“The 355” is an action-packed spy thriller with a definite feminine side. It is from the “studio that brought you Jason Bourne” (as they say). So now in this case, they can deliver ‘Jessica Bourne’, or something along those lines. The actual female spies increase in number and they are not brainwashed assassin cut-outs. They are new stereotyped women leads playing the stereotypical male counterpoint roles. Move over Mister Testosterone — these ladies have arrived!
